Hi everybody, I'm new here and wow am I glad to see people who know what I'm talking about
.
There have been so many times during my headaches that I got the feeling that people don't understand what I'm experiencing and when I see the look in there faces, I can literally hear them saying, there he goes again, he is so weak, or he must not be able to handle the stress, he's worthless. And although they don't say it, I know that they're really thinking it and they're probably talking behind my back about it, it's really not a figment of my imagination, I've been here long enough to know what sort of people I'm dealing with, unfortunately some of them are even family which makes it even worse.
It used to bother me and cause the pain to last longer because during a headache I have a tendency to let my brain go crazy, thoughts that are going through my head keep looping and tend to run faster and faster, I can't stop it, making me wish things to make it stop which I normally wouldn't consider.
Anyways, it's been three years now that I've been without a prolonged migraine attack and it's come in the worst possible time.
I'm in the IT business and I've been send to a company as a system administrator, things are going ok, from my standpoint, but they aren't very organized and are very much like they do a request but it needed to be done yesterday.
Things could go better if they requested it like a week ago so we could prepare for it but that's just how the organization works. I don't mind the pressure, I do some of the best work under pressure, but I do get irritated with how things are played out, you know in my line of job you get to meet difficult people who are connected with managers and who let the crap hit the fan when things don't get done the way they want it, but I've managed to cope, hence no migraine for three years.
But because of this, I thought I was cured, so I didn't pay enough attention to the following things:
- eat at regular intervals, often times not eating in the morning and only having some food during lunch at 13:00 or even later
- lot's of working overtime, causing me not to have enough rest
- not enough exercise, when I get home I'm to tired for it
- unfortunately having a neighbour who tends to have a party with loud music during the midnight and keeps slamming the door when people arrive, depriving me of sleep
All of this and the fact that it's getting colder here (I don't take the cold well) in the Netherlands has caused me to have headaches again.
When I got it, I thought I was having a stomach flue, because I was having diarea, with slight headaches. After the diarea I kept having the headaches and they got even worse, somedays they lasted five hours and now I'm home for like a week now with headhaches almost everyday.
All of the time I was thinking the headaches are caused by my stomach, cause when I put pressure on it with my hands I would feel the pain worsen.
The doc finally told me I was having migraines again and he gave me some medicine, for my stomache Omeprazol, because he thinks the stomache problems are symptoms of the migraine, not the other way around, for the headache Rizatriptan (Maxalt)
What I usually experience when I get sick are the following:
- stomach feels like somethings stuck and it needs to dissolve something
- nauseau (vomiting)
- headache only on right side of head
- back, shoulder, neck pain only on right side of body
- dizzieness
- pulsating feeling in right eye and actually right side of the head
- blurry eyesight
- can't bare light, sounds or movement
- can't stop thinking about the stupidest things, brain going haywire
- very quickly irritated, but I don't take it out on people, cause, I know it's really nothing to get irritated about
The last few days it has gotten better, yesterday only had headache for a few hours, but back on the subject, I've noticed a few pressure points on the top rightside of my head which tends to calm down my stomach and sometimes even causing the headache to go away or at least not worsen.
When I touch the top of my head (must sound ridiculous) with my fingers there is an area that hurts when I put pressure on it, when I keep stimulating it by using a rubbing motion with my fingers, I can feel my stomach reacting on it, like they're connected, at times the feeling that something is stuck in my stomach goes away.
It must sound weird, but it has given me releave and I haven't taken the Maxalt to counter attack the migraine. I used Maxalt in the past and it's some heavy stuff, when I used it I felt pressure on my chest, like someone was standing on it, so I'm not so keen on using it, it does work when I use it.
In the past the doc has send me to physiotherapy, but that never helped me that much, it's so strange that just a few pressure points on the head can give me so much releave and that I noticed it just now, over all these years, if I only knew sooner.
Is this just coincidence, or have I really found something, I don't know whether it's usefull for any of you, cause I know everyone has a different kind of migraine attack, but I was also thinking that maybe accupuncture is something to consider? Anyone with experience?
