Hi I'm new! I've actually never written in a forum but my boyfriend does for his ADD so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm 20 years old and I've been getting migraines since about 9th grade. I think mine are migraines with aura since I do see the flashes before I get them. A few years ago I went to an eye doctor because I constantly see flashes and dots. Not as bad as before I get a migraine though, and it gets worse days before I get my period. I can still see perfectly but it is hard to read some times and it does seem like things are moving around a lot. For example, it's really bad when I look at a blank wall (especially ones that are painted white). I see black and white speckles that have a shimmer effect. It's really hard to explain. Well when I went to the doctor he said I had 20/20 vision and that it's normal to see these "spots" a few days before you get a migraine but not everyday. He sent me to a neurologist who gave me an MRI of my brain. And of course they found nothing.
I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem. It is really frustrating not knowing what is wrong with me and not having a way to fix it. I have to constantly wear sunglasses in doors and immediately as I walk out side for fear that I’m going to get a migraine. Especially when I'm watching TV or on the computer.
I also have another question. A few months ago I tried out birth control for the first time. When I reached the days when I was to take the "sugar pills", I got constant migraines. Worse than usually. They were more frequent and lasted longer. I had to stop taking it after only one month. I was wondering if anyone knows a solution to this. I know it's a very common problem because I have done some research on it. I am planning on going to a neurologist to ask about it but I wanted to see what works for other people first.
Any suggestions or advice would be extremely helpful. Thank you!
