I am usually found in the fibromyalgia forum but this morning I noticed a strange sensation on the left side of my face. It started as a kind of tickle, but quickly progressed. Now it has a strange kind of painful numbness. That sounds impossible, but it's true. My left eye (which has been twitching for months now) is very dry and wants to close. After several hours of the pain in my face (and ear) which seems to be just under the skin, I started developing a headache. I've suffered from migraines for many years so I know when I'm getting one. I've never had the facial pain as a precurser before though. This facial pain has happened twice before (with no headache) and the doctor said it was "post herpetic neuralgia" caused by shingles, but I've never had the chicken pox so I can't have shingles. Then the doctor said it was trigeminal neuralgia but that doesn't seem right either.
I take Lyrica 450mgs daily for fibromyalgia and have been on it for six months or so, and the first instance of strange face pain predated the Lyrica so I don't think *that's* it, either.
Has anyone else suffered the strange almost burning (but still kind of numb) pain on one side of their face? I'm putting this here because I *do* have a migraine starting and I wonder if they might be related somehow.
I can't use webmd to try to narrow it down because it freezes my computer and wrongdiagnosis offers 1305 possible causes!! Well, that helps a lot.
I feel like I'm falling apart at the seams.
Thanks.
