Preventative that don't cause weight gain

Does anyone know any weight neutral or possible preventatives that cause weight loss (besides topamax)? I took topamax for about 6 months and lost weight but the side effects were so bad I couldn't deal with it anymore. I'm on atacand now and gained about 15lbs - not sure if it's just b/c I'm off topamax or from the atacand. I was thinking about zonegran but my doctor said she didn't have success with it. My biggest side effects that I can't deal with w/preventative are 1. weight gain and 2. loss of libido. I need help!!!

I haven't had weight loss with any other preventative like I did on Topamax, but I haven't gained weight on any of them, either. I've been on Depakote, Nortriptyline, Lamictal, Zonegran, Gabapentin and Namenda (that I can think of right now), and I haven't had weight gain from any of these.

I know meds can affect people very differently, but I hope this helps a bit.

I worry about the same thing, I don't want to take anything that causes weight gain. I've tried so many meds for my chronic migraines, nothing has worked very well. I just take midrin right now, and it really hasn't helped. I also take lamictal but thats for preventative seizure med. I had brain surgery almost six years ago because I had seizures for over 25 years of my life, the surgery has taken care of the seizures, but now I'm dealing with Chronic migraines.

I don't see my neurologist until July, so I'm hanging in there.
