Finally found a medication that works exremely well on my migraines but of course there's always a catch.  My insurance company, Blue Cross, limits me to only 360 mg. per 6 months which is only 36 tablets!  I've been averaging way more than that during a 6 months period and I'm frustrated.  I'm doing my part to reduce the number of migraines such as diet and stress reduction and even became educated about the term "rebound headaches" which I'm sure ran up the number. Looking for an alternative medicine or maybe a preventative, any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm sorry I have not found an alternative to presription drugs to help out.  I have Blue Cross also, but I use imitex to relieve my headaches.  I have to use a pill or two every day and Blue Cross does not give me a limit.  I probably use 30 pills a month.  I've tried Maxalt but it didn't seem to work as well for me.  If I can find something better I will let you know.

Hi, my husband has suffered from migraines for years. He too takes Maxalt. He also found another aborter that might be effective for you. It is called Relpax. It too is an aborter like Maxalt. You take it the same. You take one and if in two hours the headache is not gone you take the other one. He says the Maxalt works better for him but he says the Relpax works well too.

Blue Cross is horrible. I have a large load of medical bill debt, all from visits to the ER for migraine. Most of them were not covered. My family doctor even sent a handwritten letter to the company. They said that the ER is not the appropriate place for migraine treatment. She contended that her office is not open in the middle of the night, and even if I had called her, she would have advised me to go to the ER. Still, no help. I don't have any insurance anymore. It's not any better, and I don't have it because I can no longer afford it. But it really irked me to pay premiums and the full cost of all of my ER visits. What is the purpose of insurance again? I completely understand where you're coming from...
