about using cafergot and migranal

First off hello, this is my first time posting. I am happy to find this forum. I have had a continuous migraine for almost two years now. I have tried nearly a dozen preventatives and nothing has either worked or been tolerated. Even the abortives and rescue medications don't relieve the pain completely - that is until I went to my new neurologist and he prescribed cafergot. I took it that day and a few hours later I was at a true zero on the pain scale. I was so shocked and overjoyed that I couldn't help but cry. The migraine came back a day and half later. He also prescribed migranal which I have yet to pick up at the pharmacy (will do as soon as it is ready tomorrow) and my neuro said to alternate the use of the two drugs. Has anyone else had experience doing this? I don't want to overuse the medications and set myself up for a rebound headache but at the same time I want to catch the migraine as quickly as possible so that the medication has the best chance of working. It's also difficult because now that I know something works of course I want to use it because I don't want to be in agony. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

been having migraines for 25 yrs. finally went to a neuro... prescribed me migranal and cafergot. Both work well if taken right away. Migranal has had better success for me. i get neck pains that turns into blaring migraine pain after couple of hours of initial aura... good luck!
