Persistent exertional headache, numbness

Hi,

Was hoping I could ask a question here and maybe get a little reassurance that I might not have a brain tumor.

I got numbness in my tongue/mouth/nose and general weakness along with a headache over a week ago. It hasn't gone away. It will settle down if I sit still, but will come back on with the facial numbness whenever I exert myself at all. I mean just walking across a room will set it off. Headache is focused mostly in forehead and between the eyes.

I visited a neurologist as soon as I could, but a MRI couldn't be scheduled until the end of this week. Said he thought I didn't have an aneurysm, but might be migraine.

Does anybody have an experience like this with migraine? I feel terrible if I move around. Just generally weak. I should note I'm a pretty fit 39-year-old guy. Is it even possible for a migraine to last this long (9 days now) ??

Never had a head injury of any kind.

Update:

MRI normal. Headache has slacked off and only manifests now if I move around. Still have numbness and weakness from ANY exertion. Neurologist said it was likely a migraine. I am doubtful as my head doesn't even hurt now unless I move around. Nearly passed out a couple times over the weekend. Wife took me to the ER. They could find nothing immediately dangerous going on. I'm baffled as to what to do next. Try and get more tests I suppose.

I would be pretty confident its not a tumor. That is the one thing these stupid doctors actually look for. That and MS or some auto immune disorder. Have you ever gotten your eyes checked. They could check to see if you have an inflammed optic nerve which might lead you in the right direction.

inflammed optic nerve usually points to pseudo tumor cerebri. This is very rare and it means there is an increase of spinal fluid pressure. It could also point to a blod clot. There was an article on the Washington Post the other day about a 21 r old girl who had 3 MRI's and all of them missed the blod clot. They found it through inflammed optic nerve diagnosed by her opthamologist. Again this is aslo very rare especially if it didnt show up on an MRI. I tend to think most of us suffer from some type of muscle condition like arthitis or neuralgia. I was diagnosed with a csf leak yet i still believe mine is muscle related somehow. Weird huh. Here I am with a diagnoses and I still fell like the doctor is wrong! haha. And there always is the possibility that it just is a migraine. Many Migraines go undiagnosed. Some people are just lucky i guess.
