something Different

My girlfriend of 3 years has been suffering from migraines since she was 10 (now 29), she has not gone 48hours without a migraine since she was 10.  As a reult of these debilitating migraines she became addicted to opiates.  She has tried almost all listed treatments with minimal improvement at best.  She was tired of being addicted to opiates and started seeing this doctor who treated her with suboxone for her addiction which worked well, but she still suffered with these migraines and thought she would have to live with them for the rest of her life.  However this doctor who is treating her is conducting a small private study on treatment of migraines using a safe non narcotic/non addictive medicaton off label, because in his routine encounters with his patients (he is very thorough), he stumbled across the fact that all of his patients he treated with this medication (with history of migraines) reported complete resolution of their migraines.  He offered to treat my girlfriend with this medication with informed consent, and I can not believe the results since starting this treatment 18 weeks ago she only had 2 migraines, and only when she forgot her medication at a friends house over the weekend, and as soon as she restarted this medication she was once again migraine free.  It is so nice to see her happy and wake up in the morning without anticipating this debilitating pain.

I went with her to has last appointment to thank this doctor for how much he helped us and to ask more questions about this treatment, and he told me he currently has 11 patient's in his study and all have reported complete absence of migraines while on this medication (Said that all of these patient's had a history of atleast 1 migraine per week for atleast 2 years) and some of them have been on it for nearly a year and migraine free, he also stated that none of his patients have reported any adverse reactions or problems. 

This is so amazing I thought I would have to let others know, as it has made a huge difference in our lives.

I promised not to mention the name of this medication yet because he is still evaluating it and it is not approved for migraine treatment, but he did say I can refer people to him for possible evaluation and treatment.

i would really like to know the name of this med.

I have continuous headaches due to tmj disorder but have had no success with any treatments and I have tried almost everything out there. Just wondering if this med could help me???

I have had migraines since the age of 15. I am now 42.  I have tried everything from blood pressure medications to anti-seizure medications and of course I am now taking Maxalt and topamax along with break through narcotic meds.  I am curious as to what kind of blood pressure medication this is that has made such a dramatic difference in your girlfriend's life.  The only medication that has made a dent is the Topamax which has cut down the frequency of my migraines minimally.  I have tried natural herbs such as feverfew, golden seal along with calcium and magnesium to no avail.  Would you be willing to refer me to this doc?  Or does anyone out there have any additional info. on herbs that are effective on the treatment of migraines.  I worry about the effect of all these meds on my liver.  Glass Hammer
