Hey ZLSJ,
I don't usually post here but I saw this and thought I would tell you what I have experienced. When I go to the neuro, a complete history is taken including current meds. They will do the usual junk; weight, temp., blood pressure. They will want to know a time line of symptoms and symptom description. Then they will do a series of reflex and response stuff. That can vary widely. Some of the things is to watch your eyes track, bang on you lots with the little rubber hammer (lol), they will have you walk, walk on your toes, walk on your heals. Stand, stand with eyes shut, stand with eyes shut and palms out and up. They might have you touch your nose then their finger, they will move that finger about so you have to chase it a bit. They will check for symetrical strength; you might push your hand up against them then down with both hands, one at a time.
I have never been seen for migraines of head pain so maybe I am way off.
The neuro may order an MRI. If you are not claustrophobic, then those are no big deal. If you are claustrophobic, make sure you let the doc know. There are other options there.
Good luck, I hope you are feeling better soon.
