You can't imagine how glad I am to have found this site!
It's nice to know there are other people going through the same thing (even though it really sucks!)
I have been dealing with migraines for 15 years. They have steadily been getting worse. I have now been dealing with this one for 9 straight weeks. Saturday I had to go to the emergency for treatment because I could not handle the pain. I was put on Topomax a few months back and at the 25mg/day dose it did seem to work, but now I wonder if it was the drug or just a good period. The migraines returned and we have been increasing the dose steadily up to 100mg and the headaches seem to get worse with each increase. Has anyone heard of Topomax actually causing migraines? I also am using zomig and T3's with not much success. I'm working on exercising for 30 minutes 5 times weekly, drinking 2 litres of water a day (at least) eating better, more fiber and protein, less sugar and junk. And getting better more consistent sleep. Things seem to get worse. I'm also taking 400mg of vitamin B2 and 400mg of magnesium, although it's only been about
1 month for that.
I'm finding I'm sinking into a depression and more and more wishing I'd go to sleep and not wake up. My four year old asked me the other day why I'm always so sick and it broke my heart. I'm not enjoying life, it's just always pain and dragging myself through each day hardly seems worth it. I love my family and I want to be around for them. I need to get control of these migraines! Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
I'm going again to see my Dr. in few days to discuss things. He's been more helpful than the neurologist I saw who told me my options were to stay pregnant or hit menopause (at the time I think I was 23). Not very helpful. I don't expect to never have another migraine again, but to have one for this long is just too hard to deal with.
Sorry for the downer of an introduction.
