Has anyone tried this for migraines? If so, how long did it take to start working and how well did it work?  My dr started me on this.  I have tried just about everything else so I am hoping this helps.

I am wondering what other medications he has tried for your migraine. This (http://www.ukmi.nhs.uk/NewMaterial/html/docs/ZonisamideNMP0805.pdf) says that its primarily to control epileptic seizures.

I can't even remember all of the medicines I have tried, but no triptans work for me.  I have tried verapamil but it caused my BP to go down too low.  It is a fairly common practice (at least in the area I live) to use anti-seizure medicines for migraine prevention.  I tried Topamax also (another anti-seizure medicine) but it did not work.  Neither did amitriptyline.  Neither did Botox injections.

I have not tried zonegran, but when I was first starting on topamax, my coworkers friend was taking zonegran b/c she couldn't tolerate topamax. It was working for her. That coworker has left so I don't have any information on how it's doing but I've always kept it in the back of my mind. It's been about 5 years and now I'm on 400mg of topamax and I think I've outlived the usefullness of it. bummer. I renewed my rx b/c I'm too busy to go to the doc right now, but I think next time I'm gonna ask about something else - LOL, hopefully something that doesn't require lots of blood work and doesn't make you gain weight! And zonegran fits that picture I think. I know depakote makes people hungry and makes you gain weight! yuck!!!!!
