Hi all!
I just wanted to share my experience. I had a friend call and tell me that a local neurologist's office is looking for participants in a migraine research study. I went to the first appt on January 7th, all I did at that appt. was filled out some paperwork and agreed to do certain things (take birth control, not take other migraine preventatives etc)
My first actual appt is Thursday January 20th. I will post again and let you all know how things go. So far all I know is that Ortho McNeil is testing Topamax vs. Amitriptyline. They are trying to prove that Topamax is more effective in preventing migraines.
They are offering to pay around $300 per participant, plus tests, meds etc. Also, if the participants want to continue taking the drug (which ever they are on) once the study is over, they are going to supply the participants with that also.
This seems like a great option for me right now, I don't have medical insurance and this might make things a little easier.
I will keep you all posted!
