I don't usually suffer a lot from headaches. But today for the first time in my life I experienced an "aura", followed by a moderate headache about 15 minutes later. It was quite a scary experience....large blind spots in front of me (like you get after staring at a very bright light) followed by a phychodelic arc of zig-zagging prisms. Scared the life out of me I thought I was having a stroke or maybe experiencing a detached retina or something. I felt pretty nausious as well and had to lay down in a darkened room. After it passed I quickly googled and found out that it must have been a "classic migraine" (with aura). I feel somewhat releived now it was not something serious. I wonder if I will experience it again or it was just a one-off. If it happened while driving it would have been very dangerous. I am a 47 year old male btw. Is it unusual for classic migraines to suddenly appear at such an age in such a dramatic fashion? My head is still throbbing and it hurts more when I cough.
