New 2 forum, not 2 migraine. Had them 40 yrs. Got an 8 out of a 10 today, my bday!

Hello all, Ive had migraines since age 11. Had one for 10 days also clusters. Mlst effective for me is imitrex. One side or the other of my head n neck. Nausea or vomiting. Behind eyes. Cpl days before I dont feel right and thag means its coming. Foods dont trigger but worst is storms on tbe way. My head tells me one is coming, barometric head. Multigenerational on moms side back as far as I can go. Thought as I got older theyd decrease. No. Get them after a crisis has passed or if I cry or sleep is disrupted. Killing me right now. Tried a ton of meds. See a great nero but only so mjch they can do I guess. PLEASE can anybody relate and what helps you???

Hi there, just wanted to say hello, and that I do empathize with you. I wish someone would find us a cure! I thought as I got older they would decrease too, but nope. Anyhow b/c you mention the barometic pressure, and that emotional stress affect you, I wonder if you might respond well to the CoQ10 supplements? It helps stabilize blood pressure (even if your bp is normal, it helps prevent fluctuations, which can trigger migraines. It won't cause you to have low BP). I would ask your MD maybe. I started using it about 2.5 months ago and really helped me break a rebound-cycle, I've gone from having 12-15 headache days per month, to about 5-6.
Also ice packs on the head after you take the imitrex helps along the relief I've found...

If anything just wanted to respond, and lend support! Hope you found something helpful.

I understand your pain. I've had a terrible migraine all day cry The type that it hurts if you move. I've had migraines since I was a teenager, but the older I get the worse they are. I had botox injections on April 7th, but so far no relief, however the neurologist told me that I might have to have several injections before getting any relief. Right now I take fioricet, zanaflex, and toradol when the pain is more than I can handle. I don't go back to get my second injections until July! Summer weather is always hard on me as far as my migraines go. heat, and bright sunlight trigger migraines for me. I honestly think there is a nerve that is being compressed in my head. I had brain surgery in 2002, though the surgery was a success the migraines are worse. I had dealt with epilepsy for over 25 years, but Praise God that is all behind me, now to take care of the migraines. God is good, I'll get through it! Sending prayers your way!

Hi all. Thank God mine is gone today. Yes, bright lights and strong smells will get me 2. Did try the COQ10. Seems as tho immitrex is all that saves me. Oh the tests on me and my head over the years! Heat on head, smelling Vicks salve BC powders help a little. When they corrected sleep d/o it helped greatly 2.

It's so impossible to explain to people that never had a migraine what the difference is from a regular headache..
I HATE when people call their everyday headaches Migraines...shhhess

certain perfume, strobe lights, bad music, diesel fumes, potato chip bag noise... immediate migraine for me
so that leaves me with never go to a department store or a disco that plays bad music.. and stay far behind trucks in traffic lol
on gabapentin now with high vit B2.. also take fiorinal when migraine hits.. really helps me

i once had a migraine that lasted 5 days.. couldnt eat.. vomiting.. horrible

NY - I know what u mean about the complaint of having a migraine when ppl have a headache! You earn your stripes with migraines. Ive heard it said there are three kinds of (migraine) pain. 1. Oh no, I think Im gonna die. 2. Oh no, I know Im gonna die. 3. Oh no, Im not gonna die... Im gonna live and keep feeling this pain! LOL

Have had another bad day with a migraine. :( It is coming a storm tonight so maybe that is why I'm in so much pain. I woke up early this morning to take my daughter to school, but it hurt so bad just to move and my head was throbbing so I turned over and tried to go back to sleep. She got a day off because of my migraine, she was happy that she got to stay home. The kids had test all week, and today was going to be a pizza party day, so she didn't miss much and she was more than happy to stay home. Teachers take days off so kids should be allowed a day off too! :) Nothing is helping with my migraines and it's really starting to bring me down, but I refuse to give up hope! I'm taking fioricet, zanaflex, klonipan, toradol when needed. The botox injections have not given me any relief, but doctor's said I might have to have several injection sessions to feel any relief. Just took my meds praying I will wake up pain free Saturday morning. Have a great weekend!

Mercy, I can only tell u 4 me, Til they cirrected the sleep d/o my mivraines were constant n wld put me n bed. Frequent n severe. The sleep meds stopped the sleeo d/o and lessened migraines drastically. Tried all kinds of precenrarice meds n none woeked. Only and always imitrez. I dislike taking meds but have no quality of life w/our them. Estrogen since hysterectomy is a must for me to lesson them too. 50 mgs?of benadryl and BC powdwers with carbonation helps milder ones, Minimal exposure to dirext sunlight, no crying, smells esp paint or strong smells, no loud noise, acupuncture bells, no red wine or etoh, heat on head, Ihad to ger over resisrance ro meds, limit stress, no strobing effects on tv or thru trees driving, Get slp study n imitrex!
