Hi!
I was on IV DHE in the hospital as well for about
half a month earlier this year (on and off). I was finally prescribed Migranal - which is a nose spray version of this very old medicine. It is pricey. Pre-insurance it costs around 900$ for a box of 8 bottles (each has a couple of doses). Bad thing is, you can only use a few times a week - and you can't use within 24 hours of using a triptan. I also only spray in one nostril, because i found that it stuffs you up completely if you spray it in both - and I take a sudafed along with it, to stop the constant sniffing.
My husband had used dhe years ago - and at the time he was giving himself injections to treat it (the medicine came in small ampules). I am not sure - but I don't think this is available any longer.
I am sure asking your neuro or primary care doc, they can find out about
migranal and if it is appropriate for you.
This has not been a fix-all for me and I don't think was ever as effective as the hospital/iv treatment regimen - but definitely worth discussing with your doc.
Hope that helps!
