does anyone know what this is?

for the past few days, I will have a random stabbing pain ( maybe 5 seconds) in front of my left ear, near the top where you can feel your pulse). No other symptoms really. feels kind of tender there otherwise but the stabbing pains are what get me. I have had this happen before, but its been about a year since.
Anyone know what this could be? I will make an appointment with my Neurologist today, but thought Id ask here as well.
