But is butabarbital, a barbituate (tranquilizer/downer), the apap is tylenol, and the cf is caffeine. This is commonly known as Fioricet. Try it, it worked for me slightly. My headache are stratospheric though. And after about a month or two, I quickly got used to it and it stopped working. However, it did drop the intensity of my pain down a couple notches. I get this when I can't use anymore opiods for my head.
However, in my opinion, never accept Norco, Vicodin or any other narcotic for your headache. They work, but unfortunately, besides addiction, you develop rebound headaches. I ended up with daily headaches due to using narcotics. I wish I'd had this information before the ER doctor prescribed this med and then my PCP gave me more when my regular treatment of over the counter migraine meds didn't work. I would have rather gone through the 8-10 days of pain than the daily pain I now have had for 2 1/2 years.
If you go to an Urgent Care facility instead of an Er, they aren't allowed to prescribe narcotics, so they'll go with triptans (Imitrex, Maxalt, etc) or Fioricet.
