You are SO SO lucky that you found VERY sensible neurologist, not everyone is so lucky. He is doing very correct (wish there would be a better word to stress more) thing.
First thing first, you are just 18 and you say, you are depressed for 'few years'? really? Does your parents have an idea of this? This is youth, live happily, why depression? Life is tough, I agree, but don't get depressed, fight the darn life :)
Every food that he mentioned to cut down are known migraine triggers. You should maintain a headache diary. I have given few points in the post at https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?r=e&f=31&m=2546015 You will be able to find out your triggers.
Magnesium and Riboflavin deficiency is known cause of migraines. Which magnesium supplement has he suggested? Do NOT use Magnesium oxide, which is most abundent form of Mg used in supplements, instead use Magnesium Chloride. The Vitamin Shoppe brand has best bang for the buck (I use the same). What dosage of both has he recommended?
Do not overuse Ibuprofen. Honestly, although its OTC drug, its not the best drug we should be taking at our whims.
Read up some other threads on this forum and you will find some useful information I have posted in other threads. Unfortunately, this forum is not active as other sections but with other's input, I plan to make it more active.
