**Please note: I have obtained prior permission from an admin (Peter Waite) to post on this forum.**Hello!
My name is Lauren McGrath, and I am a Masters student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, undertaking research for my dissertation in Media and Communications. I am hoping to conduct interviews (via email or instant message, whichever you would prefer and find easiest) with some of you to find out how (and whether) you are using online tools for migraine management.
Specifically, I am interested in looking at these websites: ReliefInSite, PainAction, and MedHelp. If you use a different website or (phone/iPad/e-reader) app for information, tracking tools, and forums, I would be interested in hearing about
this as well! The interview should take about
45 minutes, and you will have the opportunity to review some more information about
the project, confidentiality and what the interview process is like prior to agreeing to be interviewed. More information can be found here:
lmmcgrath.wordpress.comI would be grateful if anyone who is interested would send me an email - my address is
[email protected].
A personal note: I am a chronic migraine sufferer myself, and a brain tumor survivor (I had neurosurgery about
5 years ago). I also grew up among a family of chronic migraine sufferers and observed how their migraines impacted - and still impact - their lives. The overall aim of my research is to help the migraine community by finding out whether online media tools could potentially become useful for those with chronic illnesses who cannot afford (or are not able) to be monitored by a physician on a daily basis. In short: I want to assure you that the information you give me will be put to good use. It is my hope that this project will have some positive impact on our community and the future of chronic illness care.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing about
some of your experiences!
Best,
Lauren McGrath
