There doesn't seem to be a "brain injury" forum, but I guess this comes close. I'd really appreciate some help on this, any input at all. I suffered a viral illness that crept into my brain over a year ago, which was about the most horrible experience imaginable. I've been to neurologists and I've had an MRI, but there was a long delay in getting a diagnosis; the recent MRI I got has come back "normal", which is frustrating to me, given that I have to live with the headaches, brain fog, fatigue, and permanently damaged vision. I've also had a "visual evoked potential" (VEP) test, which to my shock came back "normal". I mean, my vision is absolutely disastrous (my eyes themselves are physically fine) so I thought the VEP would surely detect some damage. But it didn't.
So now I'm left with the question: is there any other test, perhaps a SPECT scan or EEG, that might be able to pick up some sign of the damage? Can anybody suggest what the next step might be? I understand it may be tempting to tell me to just move on, but please understand I really need this.
