I am a 32 year old who has experienced, until now, pretty typical migraines with aura. Typically pop up every six months or so, with some pretty obvious light triggers.
about a month ago, I had a run of the mill aural migraine. Thought nothing of it. Then two weeks later, I had another one. And then another. At this point, I am up to five migraines in a month. I went to my GP as well as a neurologist, both of who have chalked this up to sleep deprivation and stress.
I have a 16 week old baby that HATES sleeping and whose arrival was very, very traumatic (NICU, etc) . This has been the most stressful, sleepless time of my life, without question.
My questions is as to whether you guys think this could really be responsible for such a big increase in migraines.
The neuro said that in his experience, sleep is the single biggest factor affecting migraines. He also did a full exam, labs, and checked for intracranial pressure, which he said was all totally normal. Of course, there is a hypochondriac side of me that is sure this is a sign of something serious (e.g., brain problems). The neuro said this is classic migraine/aura presentation, and that if it was something serious, there would be other symptoms and the painwould be worsening and constant.
Thoughts? I am freaking out here.
