Hello cez0219,
Since, you said your MRI came back normal you should do an evaluation of yourself. First, start a Migraine journal; this will help track your migraine patterns. Next, you should also have a daily journal of what you eat and do. It can be short and concise so you don't get tired of writing. It can seem tedious but think of it as an investment to improving your health. something is triggering these migraines and you can find out what it is by keeping track of your daily activities and your migraines.
I started one in November of 2013. Once, I saw a pattern I adjusted my food intake to include things such as coffee once a day or every other day. See I was addicted to coffee for many, many years until 2 years ago when I threw the coffee machine away. I know it was funny I was so drastic. However, my migraines got worse so I bought instant coffee and my oldest son kept tabs on how much I drank. It helped me a lot.
Also, I could go hours and even days with just eating once a day or not even. My oldest son started noticing and last year 2013 started making me dish out a plate of food for me first so I wouldn't forget to eat. See I have 5 kids and I was in college and worked during that time so I would forget to eat but always drank tons of water. Let me tell you that I am so grateful to have had my son look out for me because the migraines decreased immensely. I used to have migraines every monthand they would last from 3-13 days. It's horrible because I couldn't focus at all. Our bodies can get used to medication, but if we start with this first then when we do get migraines the medications will actually work and the migrai es will cease for a good period. I now only get migraines every three months and usually they dont last as long as they used too unless I don't take care of them right away. since, our bodies react differently sometimes what helps one person may not be good for another specially since you may be allergic to stuff someone else is not or other health issues are present.
I have chronic migraines since I was a child. it is genetic problem for me. Also, I had a lot of injuries. When we have an injury it can also trigger other pains such as migraines. I also have Sciatica, IBS and gastritis. That being said Fioricet, Naproxen, and Imitrex have been my go to for the migraines I've had. for a month now I have not been taking Naproxen and Imitrex because of the Gatritis which has made my migraines worse than ever. They are waiting for MRI results of my spine to see what they can put me on for the migraines which will be tomorrow.
Fioricet, Naproxen, and Imitrex helped me so maybe see if your doctor can put you on a trial basis to see if that helps you. Just make sure your doctor knows all healthe issues and other meds you may be on so it would not contradict each other. Trust me you do not want to mix any wrong medication. if you take Imitrex you cannot take Naproxen with it or within that same day. they are both NSAIDs so you would be double dosing. I am sure your pharmacist will warn you, but I wanted to let you know just in case. I wish you the best of luck.
