Hello~ I'm new here

I was pointed here from another forum.

I am turning 35 this year and have had chronic migraines for the last 20 years. I don't take any of the preventatives due to the side effects. I have been taking Lortab 7.5/500 for about 10 - 12 years as a pain management, and to reduce the amount we recently added Tramadol, for days when Pain is too much for Tylenol but too low for Lortab, and Cyclobenzoprine for nights when I can tell I am going to get a tension migraine due to stiff muscles in my neck.

Now Lortab is no longer available and they switched me to Norco 7.5/325. I didn't take generic Lortabs because they didn't work due to differing amounts of Tylenol, or use of Ibuprofen which never works. I am finding it takes longer for the Norco to kick in, and doesn't help me sleep as long as Lortab did. I've also tried to take a dose of Children's Tylenol to make up the missing Tylenol, there isn't any change. I also find that after I wake up I seem more sluggish and have a hard time getting to a functional state.

My boss recommended Topamax, but it's a med I just can't take. I tried it about 13 years ago, and felt like I was going crazy on it, so my doctor pulled me off. Same goes for using Birth Control to help with hormonal changes. I can last about 3 months before I start feeling like my world is being turned upside down. This is taking Ortho-Tri Cyclen. If I take anything stronger I'm puking out my guts all day.

My known triggers are:

Barometric Pressure Changes - Generally affects me most during early spring (march/april) and the monsoon season (Late July to Early August) in Utah.
Stress - Switched jobs and went from 8 to 10 days of missed work a month to 2 - 3
Hormone shifts - I can tell when my cycle is going to come due to migraines
High Pollen - Usually only an issue in early spring
High Temps - Usually days when temps reach over 90. Again this is generally Late July to early August.
Burnt Popcorn smell - We generally buy pre-popped to avoid this in the house
Nail Polish - Generally only affects me when I'm out since I don't use it in my house
Heavy Perfume/Cologne - Again generally only affects me when I go out as we avoid use in our house.

I know the weight of my hair contributes to my migraines, as when I cut it short the migraines seem to be shorter in duration by a few hours. Currently my hair goes to my waist.

I have no known food triggers.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on anything I can do to help manage my migraine pain.

Thanks for the input forgot to add that due to having severe ADHD, Antidepressants don't work well for me.

With preventatives I suffered from a lot of side effects that made taking them rather unpleasant. Steps are taken to prevent addiction to the pain killers (only get 180 pills a year).

Ponstel is in the ibuprofen class, so wouldn't work for me. I think most of the NSAIDS are also in the ibuprofen class which is why I haven't taken them before.
