I am a very private person and have never posted anything on a discussion board. However, I wanted to post this in the hope that it will save just one person from needless suffering. I suffered from terrible migraines (often lasting several days) for years. I was on some pretty heavy-duty medications and even visited urgent care to get Imitrix shots. However, as soon as I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis (slow thyroid) and went on thyroid medication, the migraines completely disappeared. That was 6 years ago.
My thyroid levels were always borderline so it took an ultrasound to diagnose Hashimotos. Blood tests were never out of range enough to warrant medication, even though I knew there was a problem. It wasn't until I also started getting hives that I went to the Mayo Clinic and an endocrinologist and was finally diagnosed. Now, as long as I keep my TSH levels around 1.5, I remain migraine-free. When I think of all those years I suffered with migraines, missing out on life, stuck in a dark room, and taking unnecessary medication, it saddens me. If just one person reads this and is helped, this post will be worth it.
