After 11 years taking Excedrin twice a day I have had enough. Last year in October I started work as a cashier, and as my headaches seem to be getting worse, I haven't been hesitating to take another dose of Excedrin, or Advil. This past week was hell, and I said forget it, I'm quitting excedrin. I went cold turkey Monday, and am surprised it isn't excruciating, no full blown migraine. I take benedryl (I don't think that causes rebounds??), and have a script
for Maxalt. I'd like to avoid any preventative meds until I'm over this and see just how often I get migraines. (I went to a neurologist in Feb and received a preventative and Maxalt but wasn't ready yet to disclose my otc use, I feel like such an addict! It's ridiculous!)
The headaches are bad enough I've been out of work, and will go to urgent care for a dr note. (Come evening the headache diminishes and I feel very clear headed and well. They tend to begin after I'm getting ready for the day) The first two days I had some caffeine, today was less. I am scared I have a forever headache, that quitting the Excedrin isn't the magic cure I'm looking for. Tired of being sick, I've had migraines 20 years and only had them about
twice a year until this past year. To be honest I'm not really sure what started the every day Excedrin habit, maybe they did get bad, and over the years things appeared to be under control and I dind't want to test it. I really hope that somehow the increase of headaches was my doing... I am having such a pity party, anyone been there, done that, and it turned out good?
