I'm looking for some help. So 9 years ago I had some kind of attach that left me sort of “numb/weak” on one side of my body. They did every test known to man, thought it was ms, but could never confirm and seemed to think after a year, with no changes in my brain and no changes in my symptoms that it was not MS. After 3 years I basically stopped going. Then about 4 months ago I got vertigo. I went back to my doc and had a conversation. I have the classic visual aura of migraines (seen in on youtube to my surprise) but don’t really get headaches. I never thought of migraines before.
So know he’s diagnosed me with migraines ( I will say I had a CT, MRA, MRI, MRI with CON, CT, EEG, EKG, XRAY, Sleep Study, 2 gallons of blood….and more). At first I was on Topamax and it seemed to make things worse at a low dose. I had what I think people call a sparkle headache. That was really bad. All the colors were off and everything was really bright sensory overload. The doc said the dose was too low, but switched me to Depakote for a bit and now back to extended release Topamax. At first I didn’t like the side effects, but now it seems like at 100 mgs it seems like it is working. A lot of my one side numbness is going away. I get it about once a day now or if I’m stressed. My stuffy ears which I had all the time are going away. My vertigo is long gone……
I never knew I had migraines, if that is what this is. So I’m asking, does this sound like migraines to you? I have the aura, crawlies in the eyes not jagged lines, but like tape worms (not floaters I have those too), and full stuffy ears which goes away with these meds, numbness…..and other symptoms too, but it’s hard to tell where the migraine stops and I end. Being I have no pain….The first time I went to the doc for stuffy ears was 1997…..I know that. I know when I was young I had headaches all the time, but they went away. I know I had this black spot in my eye from time to time, and these creepies…..
Anyway, does this sound like migraines? Anyone else have the numbness…advice? The meds seem to be helping but pain killers can help you think that your broken foot is fine too….it’s still broken you know…..
