Hi all,
I alraedy have SUNCT (rare headache disorder) which is under control with eye watering amounts of medication.
At the start of the year though my brain decided to treat me to a new headache. In ways this far worse even. My neurologist thinks they could be migraines.
It is a dull, throbbing, burning sensation at the top of my forehead and further back on the top of my head itself. It's there all the time to some degree. It follows a cycle whereby there will be two days of bearable level, then a day of buildup, then a day/night of insanity (nearly went to the hospital the other night). I've also been sleeping a lot more and often have sudden bursts of sleepiness in the middle of the day. In the build up day described above I'm usually really tired.
I haven't noticed any triggers at all. The thing is I thought migraines were supposed to come and go, and people were pain-free between attacks?
I'm under strict instructions not to take codeine based tablets more than 2-3 days a week since it will make things worse in the long run. They want to put me on Sodium Valproate, but they are waiting on some liver blood tests results before starting.
I'm essentially looking at taking an extended hiatus from work at this rate. It's getting gradually worse week by week and I'm worried it's something else!
Does this sound migraine-y to anyone in the know?
