I had a lower left root canal on tooth #19 on March 8th. As soon as I got home and the numbness wore off my jaw was excruciatingly painful! I took the pain pills but it didn't get better. I could hardly open my mouth and I couldn't eat anything . It hurt to move my face. The next week I went to my dentist and he said my teeth were fine and that my jaw probably got over-extended and would heal on its own. He said there was nothing else he could do for me that day. The following week i went to my medical doctor and she thought maybe it started a TMJ problem which I've never had before. She gave me muscle relaxers which did not help. A couple days after that which was 2 weeks after the root canal the left side of my face went completely numb. I looked it up and it appears to be the mandible nerve. It's from my temple down my jawline the front of my ear my chin my bottom lip and inside of my mouth inside my cheek my bottom teeth and gums all on the left side. I had an MRI last Friday and everything was perfect. I have an appointment with a neurologist this Friday. My dentist says it's a coincidence and that it's not anything Dental. I have a hard time believing that. I have been numb now for 12 days straight!
