Fioricet make you sleepy?

My doc prescient fioricet to see if that might work for my ongoing headaches. Like I said, I’m pregnant so my options for treatment are limited. Anyhow, I woke up with a headache today but I’m weary about taking it bc I’m afraid it’ll make me drowsy. I don’t really wanna fall back asleep at 10am lol. Thoughts??

Yes, it can make you drowsy and dizzy

If the side effect is so strong that it is effecting your daily life, call your doctor.

Most times, these SE lessen as your body becomes used to the medication.

Stay in touch with your doc about the side effects.

I haven’t taken it during eh day yet, just at night. I’ve been nervous to take it with driving and work.

Another question I have is that I have chronic headaches, not a migraine this time. And again, we think bc of the pregnancy hormones. I’ve literally had a headache since Aug 13, with the exception of 2-3 days headache free. Anyhow, even if it’s just a small lingering headache should I still take the Fioricet. I was hoping I could take it a few times and it would kick this cycle of headaches. I’ve taken it twice and it keeps coming back in the am.

Heading back to my headache doc next week for nerve block injections. She can only do lidocaine but we’ll see if that helps!

I get the Lidocaine injections and they help. The 2nd month I had them, I noticed a big difference. I have severe chronic head pain from various reasons. The best I can hope for is a level 2-3 and I am reaching that. for me it is like not having pain at all.

I hope it works for you.

I don't have experience with F. so ask the doc about that.

Have you spoken to your obgyn about the continuous headaches? They should see you, check your blood pressure and do a routine baby check. Sometimes you can get headaches related to your pregnancy depending how far along you are. Discuss with your ob when to take the fioricet. Tell them when you
Have taken it twice in the evening, the headache returns in the morning.

Good luck. This medicine has something in it to make you sleepy, so until you get used to it, you don’t want to take it while driving or working.

Update us on what happens.

Thanks for checking in. I had my OB appt today- actually met with a specialist bc I have other medical conditions that cause me to be considered “high risk.” I stopped taking the fioricet bc it didn’t seem to help. The OB said it is probably just hormones and if that doesn’t work than they aren’t sure what else to try.

I had a lidocaine injection on Monday and it’s been bringing down the level of my headaches. The injections seem to be lowering the intensity. I have another one scheduled for 3 weeks from now. Another thing the headache doc could try is reglan foe two days to see if that kicks the cycle of headaches. I kind of which she would just let me try that and not waste my time with the injections.

I have been taking Tylenol and Benedryl before bed and that seems to be working sometimes. The doc suggested it a while back...
