Day 20 of migraine

I’m on day 20 of headache/migraine and I’m
Not sure what else to do. I have a headache specialist, am on Botox, Emgality (monthly injection), Topomax, gabapentin, and Unrevly and Nurtec for emergency relief. I’m just not sure what else to do. I have another appointment in early March with my headache doctor to go over my meds. I get approx 15 -20 headaches per month and have tracked them over the past two years. No change with any of the medications I’ve been on. I just want this gone.

Thanks for responding. I really welcome anything at this point. I did actually change docs about a year ago and I really like the one I have. She’s been trying new things. The Emgality is the shot pen that I take every month- this is the second one I’ve tried since the first brand name didn’t seem to have any effect.
That’s interesting that Ubrevley works that quickly. I used to use the tripans but had to stop bc of a brain aneurism / they didn’t want it to impact that. I got that all taken care (surgery) of but they still don’t want me using any triptans like Rizatripan or Eletriptan both of which worked pretty good. Ironically the brain aneurism has nothing to do with my headaches! Just something they randomly found on a scan when they wants to make sure nothing was wrong. This doc is good, I tell you! If I didn’t switch to her, I wouldn’t have known I had it.

She even had me try an arm band stimulator- can’t remember the name- but It stimulated the nerves or something. I didn’t see an impact or decrease in headaches.

My headache isn’t higher than a level 8 out of a 10, so I don’t think it’s necessary to go to the ER, especially with everything that’s happening with COVID. I certainly don’t think I’m that important. But if it did get bad, especially with my brain aneurism, I wouldn’t hesitate to go.

I do stretch every day and do PT for my hip, daily so I am very active. I try to get a good 7 hours of sleep a night.

Might call the doc tomorrow, as headaches are creeping up toward a 6/7 this weekend. My next appt isn’t until March. See if she has any cancellations…

That’s interesting - I’ve never thought about the weather changes and how they effect my headaches. This one is going on 30 days (as of tomorrow). The doc added Reglan and it helps a little but again, the headache comes back the next day.

Topomax does cause me to lose my words a bit. I also get kidney stones so I’m trying to taper off that one, since it is prone to give people stones. I’ve currently got two stones in my left kidney now. No pain but we need to get me off the topomax.

I wonder if the Covid booster didn’t spark this? Anyone ever heard of that happening?
