Everything irritates me while in the migraine mode. Have suffered for over 25 years and at times "eaten" pills to just get rid of the horrid pain.
I lived out in Western Canada for a few years, and it darn' near killed me. They had what was called "Chinook Winds", where the temp in winter would sometimes drop 15 degrees from afternoon til eve. Seemed I was always in the emerg. waiting for 5 hours for a shot of Stemitil (sp) or Torodol (sp). It was relief, but they migraines would return in another few days. I think I spent most of my life out there exchanging cold packs and laying on either painful side.
Luckily, I returned East and found this family doc who tried me on several meds, and hit the jackpot with a med called Verapamil. I have been on for about 8-9 years, and although I still get migraines, they are few and far between. But when I do become (un)lucky enough to
receive another (blow) to the head, and the pain is unbearable I am unfortunate now to NOT be able to ingest Tylenol #3 due to the codeine content. So, I am left with over-the-counter stuff that barely touches the indescribable pain such as a migraine.
Irritations for me are: cigarette smoke (I am an non-smoker), perfume, cleaning liquids etc, as well as, tv noise and most of all loud music.
Hope this helps all of you. Deb
