Hi everyone, about
a year and a half ago I tried Topamax for 2 months getting to the 50mg. dosage. My neurologist basically gave up on me because my last appointment he just sent me home and told me "until you get the stress out of your life, you are going to have migraine." So, I got a new neurologist. She wants to put me on Topamax again and says that I should get to 100mg. The funny thing is I told her that when not only did it not work the first time but it caused me anxiety and I am on meds for anxiety and depression. She said "anxiety can be treated." I think that is a crazy answer. Life is hard enough w/o being anxious. However, I have read so many good reports about
Topamax for migraine prevention that I'd like to be one of the lucky ones. What do you think? Should I give it another try?
Also, a different doctor (pain management) suggested Lyrica. I can't stand the idea of weight gain -- scared to death of this side effect but he says that it is a "cleaner" drug with less side effects.
I have to look for a job in the next few weeks and go back to work after being on disability for the last 10 months. I can't afford to be dizzy and drowsy and especially STUPID. Does anyone have any suggestions/advice?
Thank you for listening.
