Localized head pain

Hello everyone   I have a question that I hope you don't mind me asking? I am not prone to migraines (I have had only 3 in the past 37 years) but I do get frequent headaches due to the meds that I take.  For the past year I am getting these sharp localized pains in my upper right side of my head (near the crown), it sort of feels like when you have a nerve twitch but on the brain.  The pain only lasts a few seconds and sometimes after the initial sharpness is gone, I have a dull ache but too that only lasts a few seconds.  It has happened on and off but not really enough for me to be concerned about.  Last night, I had it again while getting ready to fall asleep but this time it also felt like there was pressure too.  I woke up this morning and it has been happening sporadically all morning.  Does this sound like a migraine?

Thanks Patty :) The pain I was feeling didn't feel like any of the migraines I had in the past either but I wasn't sure if there are other manifestations of migraines I don't know about. I did have a sensitivity to sound but not light and when I would get the sharp shooting pains, I felt "off kilter" like the world was around me wasn't right. The pain is gone now but it lasted pretty much all morning off and on. It was just so strange.

Ice pick indeed! Do you happen to know what causes these kind of headaches such as triggers? Today, I'm fine - no headache. I had my husband worried for a bit there yesterday because this type of headache was so uncommon for me, he was thinking the worse. I have a doctors appt on Wednesday for another health issue so I might bring this up to her and see what she says. I've had these sharp shooting pains for almost a year but very sporadically and yes around 5 - 10 seconds, then a dull throb then poof! gone! Enough to make me stop in my tracks and say whoa! What was that??
