Hi there,
Okay so about 6 months ago I was having migraines 2 or 3 a week. After fighting with my PCP over the usage of Topamax I was sent to a neurologist who gave it to me. After stepping it up to 50mg after a month it worked and I'm down to maybe 1 migraine a month, treated with Relpax (if you haven't tried this and Imitrex no longer works for you..try it...it's the only thing that helps now). However, I'm greatly concerned that my doctor said at the beginning that normally he only treats patients with Topamax for around 7 months..does anyone know why this is the case? Anyone heard of it? It doesn't make much sense to me, I have no side effects other than the weight loss and no more migraines. I'm on a low dosage of the medicine. Input? I go see him on Monday and I'd like to be able to make a case for keeping me on the medicine.
