Almost diagnosed.

Too right Uppity! But it is a little freaky to just be waiting and waiting to "get worse" before something can be done, especially when I have 3 little kids who I want to provide for and keep up with.
I am currently looking for a really good GP that I can just go to and tell this whole sorry saga to. Here in Australia, we have a dr shortage. This equates to long waits for appointments and surgeries full to the brim of really sick people. Patients are often in and out in 5 minutes or so. This is the norm. You are very lucky to find one who spends the energy to even "listen" yet alone "look". In the past I have felt intimidated by a variety of these "professionals". Many of my friends and family tell a similar story. Here's a good example. One of my sisters went to a dr complaining of bleeding from the bottom. She was sent home with haemaroid (?sp) cream. She too'd and fro'd to same dr for a couple of weeks, still without an examination. Finally, very sick, dr examined her, found no 'roids, sent her for a scope. Ends up she has Crohns disease. My husbands appendicitis was misdiagnosed. It ruptured and he nearly died. I have dozens of stories like this!!!! But, I will find the best dr I can and get some help. I will keep you all posted.

Have you had an MRI and if so could they not diagnose it from that? I was lucky and diagnosed really fast, about 3 weeks from first symptom.  Good luck with everything!!

MS, particuarly in the early stages, isn't always visible on an MRI.  Many folks here (and on other MS forums) have had MRI's, even repeated MRI's, and the MS hasn't been visible, or apparent. You indeed were "lucky" that your diagnosis came so quickly.  That doesn't happen for a lot of folks with MS.

Trying to get a handle on all of this. I'm 35 and possibly having a first attack (if Vertigo 6 yrs ago is unrelated). Have many symptoms that have raised the MS flags. I had an MRI of the brain and upper spine that came back "normal". GP referred me to a Neurologist. Saw her the other day and had an abnormal exam again raising the MS flags that I thought we had lowered with the clear MRI. She is calling it myelitis for now and has ordered another MRI with contrast. I know I'm in that rule everything else out category right now, but can they RULE OUT MS?
