yeah  hello everyone,

    I haven't posted in a bit, been really busy!! JUst wanted to drop a note and wish everyone a happy summer!!! Copaxone is going great, i love that drug!! LOL. I hope everyone is well, and ready to enjoy the summer months ahead!!

 

Best wishes to everyone and happy memorial day as well!

Summer used to  be my fave time of year...

 

But post MS dx, the heat zand humidity kick my butt...

Good to hear that about copaxone, that is the med the neuro is suggesting if he decides I should go on a med regimen after the LP. I like hearing good reports about it!

I too used to love the summer, used to sunbathe and get a glorious golden tan, now I barely lay out 15min before I'm scampering back inside! I kept thinking I'm just too busy, but now looking back, I realize it's just not comfortable anymore. And I live in florida, a/c is my friend!

Hey Lindsay,

Thanks for this.  What a sweet post.  I am looking forward to summer and some free time.  I know that for most of us the heat can be a tough thing.  Maybe we could all share our strategies for the heat.  I just ordered my second cooling vest.  I have one that is evaporative and it works in moderate heat.  I am hoping the one I ordered is better in all sorts of heat including humid heat.  I will let you know.  Anyone else?? What is your best trick for managing heat?

Best trick for managing heat? Stay inside, under air conditioning! :) I rarely go out except very early in the morning and in the early evening, or maybe on a day like today when it's in the high 60's here, and breezy, so comfortable. Otherwise I avoid it whenever possible.

Hi everyone-  We've had two days over 80 degrees I think and one random 95.  Otherwise I've worn gloves and a blanket to all my son's baseball games this year...but summer is coming ever so slowly to the Northwest.  I spent my time in the Midwest though and our heat never compares.  Because of that we don't usually have A/C.  So- I have a great cooling vest, fashionable life jacket blue.  Gel packs that you freeze and stays cool for 3-4 hours.  Great for when I have to work outside in the summer for my job or getting into hot cars.  I try to adjust my work schedule to only be out of the office doing field work before noon.  I take a 10 minute cool shower after work if I overheated on the commute.  I find 'shade' when I go places, just like I've learned to locate bathrooms right away.  Running my wrists under cool water and a cool paper towel on the back of my neck helps a lot at work- the office A/C is old and it gets upper 70's and low 80s in the summer.  And stuffy.  I'm in the process of a reasonable accomodation request for a personal cooling unit- not quite an A/C but more than a fan.  They are only $300 and I hope work will cover it.  Heat really makes me wobbly, dizzy and ill, I'd love to hear suggestions from those of you that deal with more heat than me.   Willow

Hey Willowmom...

Just wanted to tell u that we are already experiencing high temps...and expecting a very hot summer. A few days ago the temp went up to 99.2...hot!! Thank God for A/C!!!
