Visit with MS clinic Dr.

Hi,

Yesterday I saw a new Neurologist to get a 2nd opinion. The Dr. was so nice. He had a very dry sense of humor and joked quite a lot. Sometimes I didn't know whether he was serious or not. He tested me differently than the 1st neuro.. He had me jump on one foot.. repeat sentences. I did fine on the 1st but messed up the 2nd one. He saw my films and said that they weren't "impressive" but that it was a good idea to do the evoked, BAER and EEG tests just in case. He said he would have prescribed medicine but I was nursing. He asked me why I wasn't following thru with the other Neuro and I just plainly said "We have a personality conflict". He told me that he has heard complaints from other patients so he "understood". I really admired his professionalism because he "shushed me" before I could say anything about the other neuro.. I forgot to tell him a few things about my history but I had carefully written down a summary of my symptoms on a piece of paper and he took it to copy. "This is crucial" he said (again, I didn't know if he was serious or joking)

So basically I had a one week break from the brain fog and now it has returned today. I got 10 hours of sleep last nite because my baby sleep till 6:00am. I have felt tired all day. I did go for a hike and again I didn't get that endorphin like "high" afterwards.

I have also experienced this sharp, intense pain (sorta like that electric shock pp describe) across the top of my left hand above my index and 2nd finger. I also have had a strange sharp pain on my left shin that comes and goes and a real muscle weakness kinda feeling. I'll keep track of this stuff in my log book. It may come in handy later.

I hike about 3 miles from my house. I live in CT.
My baby was very sick from Thursday to Tuesday. He had a fever of 104.7, dry heaves, runny nose, etc. I quickly put him in a tepid bath and called the Dr. I ended up taking him to the ER and got home at 2am
I plan on weaning him when he is a year old in October.

I forgot to mention that I'm goin on a mini vacation to Cape Cod. I will be bringing the baby and my oldest dd who is 9. I hired a sitter for the middle kids. Then my 2nd dd is going to Boston for an eye checkup. I'm going to meet my dh at the Dr.'s on Wednesday. He's taking the day off for the appt. We'll convoy back home with the 2 cars afterwards.

That's a whole other story..

okay I was going to go to bed but I'll fill you in just a little bit

My 2nd dd was born with congenital glaucoma. Her eye pressure should have been 12 and they were 40. That hi eye pressure causes damage to the optic nerves and if not controlled.. blindness
She currently has 20/200 vision in her left eye and 20/80 in her right with glasses.

Carolyn... My dh and I have made 115 trips to Boston which is a 2 hr drive in 4 years.. she has had 14 eye surgeries starting at 9 days old... I have been worried for her to the point where I'm afraid it's made me sick! She is a good little girl and very intelligent. I am trying everything in my power to save her vision..

I am so glad you came across a neuro you are comfortable with.

 

Back in 1987, I was dx'ed by a local neuro.  He had a strong Greek accent.  I come from a family of accents, (middle eastern), and I could barely understand him.

 

So.....I went for a second opinion from  a neurosurgeon friend of  my father's, who scheduled a MRI, and reffered me to new neuro in same complex who he said "..was the man..." when it came to MS.

 

I went to see him, have NOTHING but the utmost confidence in him.
