rolleyes  Hi everyone!

I'm currently waiting to have a brain MRI. Already had the neuro exam, EEG and EMG and waiting for a follow-up appointment w/neuro on the 16th. This is what I've got going on and am wondering if an old cervical injury approx. 20 yrs. ago could be causing this? Or MS? Anyway here goes: starting five years ago had nerve pain then progressed to blurry vision, slurring sometimes, right hand weak, confusion/fogginess, feelings of warmth in legs and most recently lower and upper back (feels like warm water sometimes or like I'm wet but I'm not), I pee alot like I can't get in all out but then have a urge so bad that I can hardly walk and feel like I'm going to embarrass myself in public - this comes on very quickly. Also, besides the tingly hands and feet, for the first time I had one foot fall asleep then crept up the entire right leg. I had to limp around to try and get feeling back. Also, slight wobbliness some days.

  confused Any input would be great.  (Oh, and one night when I was going to bed I just stared at the wall frozen, blinking and doing a weird thing with my tongue and cheek- lasted about ten seconds)

 

Anybody have simular symptoms? Please reply. Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear of all your symptoms. I have had the tingling,blurry vision,weakness,confusion/fogginess and others. But I cant say I have ever experienced the "wet" feeling you describe. I do have issues with peeing alot and it is quite embarrassing because anytime I cough or sneeze and laugh urine leaks out...I use a panty liner to help with that. I need to almost run to the restroom to get there in time because I feel like I will just pee my pants.

Has your dr diagnosed you?

hello flutter, im not a doctor (obviously) so i couldn't say if a cervical injury could cause your symptoms.  What you are explaining sounds like MS to me.  Theres a few things that can also mimic MS.  Best to wait for the MRI.  I was recently Dx this May.  Started with Optic Nearitis then my entire upper right side of my body went paralyzed for a month.  Thank god that went away, now just my right hand feels like sandpaper, left hand very minorly numb.  Bottom of both feet halfway numb.  Last week was definately the weirdest week ever so far for me.

Tuesday: bottom of left foot feels like bugs crawling on it for 3 hours.

Wednesday:  before i went to bed i had electric like volts running from my back to both legs.  I thought it was kind of cool lol, but i know it cant be good news. 

Thursday:  Bottom of left foot felt like i stepped into a puddle.  It felt soaking wet all day long. Very annoying!

Friday: Bottom of right foot, feels like its on FIRE!!!! lasted for 3 hours.  Also i sat down at my friends house and got up and screamed in pain.  I could swear i sat on a lit cigarette, uhh nothing was there?

Saturday;  Left foot feels like its made of snake skin leather.  Later that day my left leg went Completly numb and tingly type feeling up to my knee.  Later my right leg went numb to the knee but a different type of numb feeling.

Haven't had anything new in the last few days and everything has gone away, besides the numbess in my right hand and both feet.  But ive definately had similar symptoms, along with the brain fog and peeing alot.  Are you having blurriness in just one eye?  Usually optic neuritis occurs in just one eye.  I had it so badly i was almost completely blind in my left eye for 3-4 weeks.  Good luck with your results.  Keep us posted :+)

Welcome to the MS board! I'm sorry to hear of all u'r symptoms. Unfortunately u'r symptoms could be from either...ms or u'r injury. I see that u do have an upcoming appt and tests pending...great! U'r docs will be able to give u more insight once they have those results. Sometimes folks go for long periods of time without knowing if it's ms or not. I hope that's not u'r case, but just know that even with all the symptoms u have and for as long as u've had them, there's that chance that these tests won't give u the final answer u'r looking for...yet. Hang on friend and let us know how this all goes for u. Feel free to post and ask any questions u may have.

Thank you for your replies. This may sound weird, but I have a brain MRI Thursday (w/o contrast) and I almost hope they find something because I've been asked if I'm stressed so many times I'm going to scream! I would rather deal with whatever then to have doctors think I'm crazy. Anyway, since they ordered the MRI without contrast, does that mean they are looking for lesions, because if it were with contrast they would be looking for stroke, blockages etc. right?

 

I went to the Eye Institute, had my pupils dilated. My vision is fine but they said I had occular migraines. I do tend to have the blurry vision in one eye but have had it in both. No mention of optic neurititis. Oh, and I get leg cramps at night sometimes. Hurts like heck!

 

Depending on how long it takes to get results back on MRI and follow-up on 16th, I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

I had an mri in nov 2007 with no contrast that was neg for lesions and one in june 2008 that was positive with contrast...

they did an mri on my neck and spine on 8/1/08 that was positive and it was suppose to be with no contrast but they used it anyways... you will find alot of the time they use contrast anyways though.  It usually is up to the discretion of the tech doing the actual mri.

Sorry about your symptoms but yeah I experience a lot of the same things to.  My concentration goes to where i stare at the wall at nothing and i am at a loss of words or slurr my speech.  I have horrid pain in my hands on top of the pins and needles/tingling so i usually can't type on here.  I have to potty ALL the time.  And the numb feet and leg thing is just something that happens and goes away happens and goes away with me.  Mostly it does like they are waking up now but for a month they were like they were asleep all the time.  And my right eye is blurry like someone spilled oil in it and painful.

Symptoms differ from case to case and moment to moment. So be prepared for anything but most of the time whats going on now will be the only thing to happen just over and over again.  Good luck with everything and I hope your MRI is negative and this is just a fluke thing for you and your symptoms go away. I had the MRI. Don't know results yet. Going to Neuro Tuesday for followup. I do know that I've got severe Carpel Tunnel in my Rt. hand and mild in my left hand. And something to do with my L-5 ? Anybody know anything about this? Can they detect a lesion connected with the L-5?

I'll keep everyone posted when I find out.

Mine started in 90.Went blind in left eye for 4 weeks.Told me it was ON. Never said ANYTHING BOUT MS. Went on with life. Had two kids the in 2003 all hell broke..started walking like a drunk...finely got a Dx in 2004....Wow what a ride through Limbo  Land rolleyes rolleyes

Thank you for your reply. I feel blessed to have such wonderful  friends I can confide in and talk things out with. I appreciate all your input. I may not get a dx of MS which would be good but nonetheless, whatever I'm dealing with sounds so similar, and in that way, we are all coping with practically the same kind of symptoms and agrivations no matter what name you call it.

I had three, yes 3 concussions and whiplash earlier in my life which could be coming back to haunt me but I will continue to read your posts and empathise with you all and wish you the best.
