Well, I experienced my first fall Friday night (actually early Saturday morning--1:30 a.m.). I woke up and had to use the facilities. I felt a tad bit dizzy when making my short journey(about
10 steps) to the bathroom. When I walked in, I turned around, was more dizzy, tried grabbing the shower rod, and ended up falling backwards into the tub with my legs hanging over the side. My cane and the shower rod ended up in the tub with me. I am not sure if I passed out or not. Now I had to get out of the tub. I live alone. My cell phone was on the sink. First I tried pushing myself up , but did not have enough upper body strength. ( I need to start using those wieghts in my spare bedroom.) Then I swung my legs into the tub and tried reaching forward to the grab bar to pull myself up. Once again I did not have enough strength. At this point I thought I was going to spend the night in the tub in my tank top and pj shorts which were wet from the tub. I did rolled over, got up on my kness (which hurt like ****) and managed to get up.
After putting neosporin on my arm and using the facilities, I returned to my bed and was asleep within a few minutes. I think I am taking too many meds at bedtime. I have been taking zocor (cholesterol), ambien, 900 mg of neurontin, 10 mg of baclfen, and .25 mg of clonazepa. I cut out the .25 mg of clonazepam last night and only took 5 mg of baclogen instead of 10. I am also going to try cut down on my neurontin slowly. I may eventually cut the ambien in half also.
I am bruised and sore but okay. And I am not dizzy.
