I have been on disability for many years. I had heard from my neighbor, some months after the fact, that he had been called and asked about my abilities. Nothing came of it, but this man didn't really know me or anything about my condition. How they got a neighbors number, I never did find out.
For me, the worst thing about being on disability is the followup paperwork that has to be done for the secondary disability from my old company. It is tedious and redundent and I have trouble with the doctors being willling to do it. Some of my docs in the past have even enclosed a letter that my condition may worsen but never better so the forms are irrelevant. But to no avail, at least once a year they send them to me.
Hope that helps.
