I have a question for Provigil users. I have taken 200 mg/ twice a day (7 AM & 11 AM) since April, and no complaints. My only question is, does any have shaky hands a couple hours after they take their dose? Mine get shaky, more so if I haven't ate enough. I don't have MS, I was diagnosed with a similar neuro disease in February, but I have extreme fatigue and the Provigil works. The shaky hands are just slightly annoying, make my handwriting pretty terrible, but I was wondering if it's a normal thing to experience with the Provigil. P.S. I am on 400 mg/day, which I believe is the highest dose and I am pretty small. (only about 5'1/110) I don't know if that could be why the stimulant affects me so strongly. Thanks!!

I have been on provigil for five months. My normal dose is 200mg once a day, but some days I take 300-400 mg. I get a lot of that shaky, nervous feeling inside, but it usually doesn't affect me enough to ruin my handwriting. Of course, it is possible that what you are feeling is related to your small size. It is probably something you should mention to your doc the next time you speak to him/her.

My handwriting was affected by my lesions and I pretty much had to re-learn all fine motor skills. I guess when my hands are shaky it just makes the handwriting more sloppy again. I feel like it sometimes looks near normal too!! Oh well, at least it's legible now! haha!

Hang in there.  If this ADEM was fairly recent, you may gain more skills as time passes.  I know you don't have MS but we really do share a lot of junk between ADEM and MS.  You have lost myelin and it can literally take years to know if you will remyelinate.  I had a really bad MS flare about two years ago.  I am amazed to see that I am still gaining some stuff I lost.  It takes a long time but don't lose  hope. 

There is also the chance that you are giong to make new neural pathways around the damaged spots in your brain.  This is very common in nearly all forms of brain damage.

Thanks Gretchen! It was a pretty huge flare that I had, so I'm sure there is still healing that needs to be done. My husbands long-time family friend that was like a grandfather passed away and that was his fave verse, when I was in the hospital his family sent me a card with that on it and I loved it too!!

And to dianna30...I noticed you are a military spouse and in Nebraska. I am also a spouse and not far from you. Small world!! My neighbors just came from Nebraska!

Aside from my  beyond amazing wife, Provigil is my best buddy.

 

Robin has a job with a Detroit area hospital chain....with AMAZING benefits....

 

When I need my monthly refill of Provigil....she picks it up for me at hospital pharmacy....and they provide bill if you are or are not a St. John employee....

 

If not, script would cost $1,250.00

 

Co pay...$25.00

 

If Robin did not work at St. John....I do not think I'd be takng Provigil...

Yeah very expensive med!! It's insane! Glad that you can get it that way! I've read that the patent is running out, so that's why they came out with Nuvigil. That way they can keep us paying for it. Who knows?? All I know is I'd probably have to sell my house to pay for it! lol We are lucky ones if we have it covered! Otherwise, who could afford it?? My husband is active duty military, so I use the base pharmacy and they provide my meds free of cost while he's active duty. What a blessing!! I dunno what we'd do without that!! I have way too many meds to pay for them! Has anyone tried the Nuvigil or plan on it??
