Ok, i had a stomach bug saturday and became dehydrated. went to ER Monday night where they decided i needed a chest xray, CT scan, and a lumbar puncture...although i told them that it was a stupid thing to do and i just needed fluids. I did NOT sign a consent for the LP and was given morphine (I had some neck and back pain that i'm pretty sure was just from being bed ridden) and was given the LP, the CT scan, and the chest x-ray anyways. Everything came back normal except that i had what they called a "dry tap" because i was so dehydrated. Laid flat for 45 minutes and was sent home.
Now its friday. i have had back pain so severe that i have not been able to move. I had to have my mom come help me go to the bathroom. I called my doctor who told me to give it until Monday....i dont think i can wait until monday. It hurts where they gave me the LP, and upon standing, it feels like all of the blood is draining out of my head. I now have a low grade fever, which i did not even have when i had the stomach bug, and no amount of medication even touches the pain that i feel. When i try to stand or sit upright, the pain radiates from my head, to my neck, to my chest, to my lower back until i eventually collapse and/or pass out. I dont know what to do. This cant be normal. I dont know how why they gave me the LP in the first place. WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THE PAIN GO AWAY? I swear when im better im sueing the pants off of someone. They even asked if i signed the consent before they did the LP and i said "No, and i dont want to do it." i may only be 24, but im not stupid. I know i have the right to refuse certain treatments. They came in and held me down, for God's sake.
I just dont know what to do.
