Hi Kat,
I read your post and it is quite familiar to me. When i was pregnant with my daughter almost 13 years ago, I had such problems with with my hands. Now keep in mind, i was not diagnosed with MS yet, nor was i even having problems, life was normal. about 3 months into the pregnancy, my hands got so numb. It drove me absolutely crazy. It was bearable in the day, however, as soon as i would lay down, they would get so numb. I used to take all the cushions off the couch and prop them all up like a lounge chair and try to sleep like that. I wore these braces on both my hands, b/c the doc told me that it was carpal tunnel b/c of the pregnancy. That your body produces more blood or something like that, and it is harder to pass thru the wrist b/c of all the nerves and therefore pressing on them.. Ha.....i dont know if i believe that. When i was diagnosed about 3 years ago, i always wondered if that had something to do with it. Also, my body would not go into labor. I was 3 weeks late and they then tried everything to get me to go into labor./ The patocin (sp?) that they give u to start the labor ran all day for 2 days, and as soon as they shut it off the pains would cease. Weird. They tried all kinds of things. The balloon thing, the jelly stuff, etc. 5 days in hospital, and they finally did c section. I still wonder if the MS had anything to do with that. The Uterus is a muscle, u know? So i wonder. Hum. Thats what happened to me. I did read about the pregnacy making you feel better, but i really dont know. Hope this helps. I cant believe someone else is experiencing the same thing that happened to me.
I hope u feel better.
Lynn
PS: the numbness did go away in my hands after the baby.
