I have been taking Cymbalta since I began treatment with Rebif.  My neurologist said it would help nerve pain and sometimes depression comes along with treatment as well as MS.

Is there any better antidepressant to take which is also an anelgeic? I'm on a low dosage, and very little side effects...but it is very expensive.

Appreciate feedback...

I take alprazalam but that is mostly for my nerves. it does help though

I also take rebif for 7 weeks now. it seems to be working. how about you

I take copaxone, not rebif. But I tried cymbalta right after my MS diagnosis (1 yr ago), and it made me so sick. I couldn't quit vomiting while taking the Cymbalta, I only made it 5 days and quit taking it. My neuro kept saying if I would give it a week or so the vomiting would stop, but I'm stubborn I guess. She was giving it to me for nerve pain (she said) but I believe she suspected depression too. Who knows, but now I just take xanax (like Jules) and it helps allot. No anti-depressant.

Thanks so much for this response. I took cymbalta and went through the same thing....but it did even out after weeks...weeks! After changing neurolgists, i decided to try to stop taking it. It was horrible nausea to get off it, but myaching did come back and everything felt worse. The past couple of days I have tried to restart it but after a fainting spell and three days of nausea again, I'm going to quit taking it...again. There HAS to be something else to take without these side effects, that will help my nerve and muslce aches. Maybe I will ask about xanax. Thanks again..no pill today.

I took cymbalta for 3 years. This was before I was dxed. Side effects when starting it and side effects when stopping it and side effects again when I went back on it....I must have been out of my mind. Didnt help pain at all and I was not depressed just desperate.
