Hi Theresa. Progression of the disease is different for everyone. Obviously, you have begun your research, and are there for support for your daughter. That is awesome! My parents were there for me too when I was diagnosed at age 21.
I have since had a number of different exacerbations, none of which affected my ability to hold down a job or have a child. I find that I am like the majority of patients living with MS. I hope you daughter falls into this category too. I am now 47 and have been taking COPAXONE since 2012. While I don't like the idea of shots, it has been an effective treatment for me. I have an auto-injector and take the shots 3 times/week. I have not had any new symptoms, and have seen improvement in my MRIs. Research treatments available, possible side effects, and effectiveness. That part is hard.
I also found some great information in Minding Your Mitochondria by Terry Wahls. I think you will find her story and approach to healthy living inspirational for your daughter, even if you don't fully adopt the prescribed diet. I have modified my diet based on my reading, and attribute that to my improved energy and mental clarity.
I wish you and your daughter all the best.
