Is neurological exam enough?

I had acid reflux diagnosis then shaky hands and now some weakness in arms & legs. I had a neurological exam and she said I had nothing to worry about and laughed. I don't understand if I'm weak from meds, being on the low side of iron and them doing bloodwork or from MS. I checked for autoimmune diseases and it came back negative. Did your doctor know in your neurological exam something was off?

Hi Dee716,

Have you done any research on the medications you take and their possible side effects, if not I would suggest you do so. If you are not interested in doing research your Pharmacist could give you a print out.

Did the Neurologist do any testing besides the Neurological exam/evaluation? In the case of MS, the Neurological exam/evaluation will never be normal, it will always show some deficits. If your Neurological exam/evaluation was normal you might not be dealing with MS smile

I have never had a normal Neurological exam/evaluation, from my very first one.

Thank you Snoopy. I did do some research and came off the PPIS 2 weeks ago. They made my heart race but because of my inflammation in my esophagus I'm still taking pepcid & carafate. They say it can't heal on its own. Maybe the PPIS aren't out of my system completely. It's been a rough 4 months. I don't feel myself and just hope to bounce back soon. I'm 35 and was very healthy and athletic before this.

No she only did that test but I felt like she didn't take me too seriously from the moment she saw me. She said well you did your makeup perfectly so it can be that bad.

I'm like Snoopy. I had a failed neurological exam from the get go. There were indications that something was wrong upon the very first visit for my symptoms.

If you suspect your doctor dismissed your symptoms, you can always get a second opinion. See if you can get an appointment with an MS specialist. You can get a list of local MS specialists from your local chapter of the MS Society.

Thanks Gretchen. I could be over thinking it but if I do see some more things of concern I will go to an MS specialist. Thank you both very much.
