coconut oil as "bad"?

i just finished reading nancy davis' book (lean on me) and she touts all saturated fats as bad. however, dr. mercola outlines why coconut oil is not just the only saturated fat you should use- but one that actually advises all to use! (that along with olive oil are the only 2 oils that he prescribes)...
love to know some thoughts on this...

Welcome to the forum. I had to edit out your link you had posted because it's considered a form of advertisement. Your question is a good one though. I'm not totally convinced about coconut oil myself mainly because all of the hype is coming from the companies trying to sell the stuff and I try to avoid that type of information. I've heard wonderful things about olive oil though and that is what we use at my house.

I wish you good success with your treatments for MS. I saw that you were recently diagnosed. We have a lot of wonderful people here, and if we can be of any help please let us know.

Sorry you are in a flare sad We are happy to have you here, since 1999? My apologies, I must have misread something. Are you on any kind of therapy?

We get a lot of new posters pushing products so when I see a link directly to a site to buy products it makes me suspicious of intentions. Thanks for the clarification :-)

If Nancy Davis was a nutionalist or a neurologist, I might take what she has to say as something to consider...

 

But while she is a MS patient with all of us, she REALLY is the daughter of a a gazzillionare....

 

Have you also heard of the Swank MS diet book?  I bought it @ 10-12 years ago, and it is just a very common sense lo-fat diet book.

 

I guess if you follow his diet, everyone would lose weight and hence feel better.

gazillionare's daughter or not... her book is really an honest look at empowement. from what i understand, the swank diet has been disproven and that his records and adata have been manipulated to prove his thesis... i encourage you all to check out the BBD (best bet diet). google it. not i'm not selling anything...

Ah. So you ARE pushing something. As John said, while the swank diet doesn't pretend to cure anything, losing weight is always a good thing, and it'll happen on the Swank diet. Your gazillionare's daughters hypothesis is a good money maker.
