Dear uppitycats,
As I'm sure you know, adrenal disease has been around for a long time. Doctors have always been trained to go by the morning cortisol test believing that if the cortisol levels are normal in the morning then everything must be ok. The problem is that some people have had an enormous amount of stress and it puts a major strain on the adrenal system causing it to not function well enough to keep cortisol levels in the normal range throughout the day. I'm sorry if you think this is a sales pitch...it's not. It's just something that a lot of doctors appear to not know about. Even my endocrinologist hadn't heard about it but the tests he ran on me proved to him that my previous doctor was correct in his diagnosis. My endocrinologist categorized it as addison's disease, I guess because there isn't another term for it as of yet.
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
Penny
