Hi guys,

I live in Michigan and this is one of those crazy years that Winter has decided to make his appearance earlier than usual. It snowed on yesterday and it is brutally cold. I live in a disabled complex and they just installed brand new boilers so needless to say they are working good. Since I was recently dxd, I never thought ahead about how the household heat may affect MS.

I cannot control my heat and it is not overly hot, just comfortable, yet I am having symptoms of optic neuritis, hearing noise, and other monster madness. A friend suggested cracking the window and covering up with a throw but I do not want pneumonia. Any suggestions???

The thing with the heat is that (for me it seems this way anyway!) u get hot enuf that u heat up INSIDE and u'r temp rises...and u'r symptoms go nuts. Drink something cold. Don't get wild with it, but cool u'rself down from inside. Breathing really cold air may only make u sick and u don't need that on top of this! I'm sorry for u'r symptoms showing up like this. Geez, sometimes u just can't get a break. If u can control u'r symptoms some with this method, then u'll see pretty quickly and can just keep a cold glass of something handy to regulate things. It works for me when i get over heated. I can go stand in the sun for a long time and not have any probs...but then after i'm all heated up i see things happening. That's when i get something cold to eat or drink, but drink is the fastest way. I'll keep u in my prayers and hope to hear u'r doing much better soon.

Hi Soulflower,

Wow what a dilemma! Some people are more effected by heat than others and you could try what Rhonda suggested see if helps you any. Have you tried speaking to the landlord to see if they could possibly accommodate your necessity for temperature control? You could ask your doctor if he would be able to help you with verfication if needed. I'm not sure if that would be possible but it doesn't hurt to ask.

You can also try cool compresses. Like cool wash cloths on the back of your neck.

Well you guys, first of all I will say thank you yeah .

Secondly I will say DUHHHHHH! I told my mom about the cold drink suggestion after following the advise and getting immediate relief and she said I could've told you that eyes I panicked and never thought of this great solution.

Anyway, the problem is solved and I am back to normal and I have you guys and the power of online support forums to thank\ tongue /. There are just some things that you can't find written in MS books, you only get the solution from those who are on the battlefield.
