 Hello again,

 

So I called the Doc and told them my symptoms and they ordered a repeat c-spine and first head mri. Had those on 11-21. I haven't gotten a return call yet so I went and picked up the results. On the brain mri they found one lesion which raises concern of a demyelinating etiology or multiple sclerosis. The c-spine found pretty much the same thing as the one done in 8-15-06 and states that in correlation with the brain study is suggestive of a demyelinating etiology including ms.

Since I have inflammation on my CSF test and O-bands and these mri results what other tests are needed before they can help me with my symptoms?  My hands are still tingling and sometimes radiate up my left arm. On Thanksgiving both my feet started burning and that had never happened before but only lasted 8 or so hours. Extreme fatigue....missed work today and slept til 3 in the afternoon.  I could never even sleep in the day before all this. There are more weird sympoms but you all know how that is!!!

What should I be asking my doctor? What is the next step?

Have you asked your doctor these questions?  The 21st wasn't that long ago; have you asked the doctor for an appointment to go over the results with you?

If there is still some question about whether you have MS, the next tests might be evoked potentials, or a spinal tap. If indeed it is MS, you should start on one of the drugs designed to slow the course of the disease. As for symptoms, though -- there are meds that might help with the fatigue, and sometimes the numbness and tingling if it is sevre enough. These aren't specific to MS, so there is no reason why a doctor couldn't prescribe them even if the diagnosis isn't clear just yet.  But you really do need to be talking with your doctor about this.

I need to grab the bull by the horns and ask for an appointment. I guess I thought they would suggest an appt, buy they haven't. I do have many questions for him that need to be addressed. I did already have a spinal tap in September. I will ask about the evoked potentials.
